Heritage Rose, Missoula, Montana
This rose is growing along side I-90 in Missoula, MT. I have been eyeing it for years to grab cuttings and plant them in the garden. Will do this in a few weeks. The Rose was part of the garden of a historic home in the North Missoula Railroad district (torn down to build St. Patrick Hospital ). Homes were from the 1870s to 1900s. This Rose probably came by wagon to the valley. Or, could have been a cutting from a neighbor who brought it by early railroad from the Eastern US or West Coast?
It for sure is over 100 years old.
I’m going to try several methods of taking cuttings and starting them. Fingers crossed on a successful outcome! |
